Here are two examples of our scientists’ contributions to clients' R&D efforts.
Case #1 : Creativity
Our client is a small biotech company that conducts proof-of-concept studies designed to develop a new generation of bioactive materials with improved therapeutic potential. As this company has no chemistry labs in-house, it had to rely on outsourcing. Series of compounds were custom synthesized by their usual provider, but they identified two preferred target molecules that could not be delivered.
At Novalyst, scientists were able to propose three alternative synthesis pathways using an original retrosynthesis approach. Finally, after feasibility checking, one route was shown to be efficient and Novalyst was able to provide the compounds allowing the company to complete its proof of concept.
Case #2 : Reactivity
One of our clients had to resynthesize some compounds for further studies. The process to prepare the compound was supposed to be a reliable process on the gram scale, and thus their management expected the material to be ready for testing in 3 months. Upon checking the client's process, Novalyst found that the process was highly variable and not suitable for producing the required 20 g. Novalyst was able to identify and test an alternative route within 6 weeks. The new route had one less reaction step, and could be readily scaled up to larger quantities.
